Christmas Break!

Okay so my first goal for this long winter break was to get in shape. Then i decided dragging along Kami right next to me would make it more entertaining! It sounds easier than it is. I LOVE workout videos. I think they are so much fun and for some odd reason I love being sore the next day which is easy to achieve with a new workout video. First step was buy a new workout video. CHECK CHECK CHECK (I bought three). Second was to talk Kami into working out with me ever morning. CHECK (This was easier than expected). Third was to get to work......kinda check. At first we were on fire! LITERALLY ON FIRE! I felt the burn in places I didn't even know existed! Then I went to my cabin and we broke the habit...Then we tried to start back up today and here's what happened...

We got as far as making space, turning on the TV, putting in the disk.....and then the yoga balls came out and we went down hill fast. They are just too fun to handle! Of course I got out my new camera and we went to town!....whoops! But for the record I did end up doing the video when Kami left. This picture explains why nobody takes us seriously.

Aside from workout videos I've gotten to spend loads of time with my family! My siblings are my best friends and my parents are my role models. Who could ask for anything more? I have a ton of support in my life and I'm so grateful for it. During my figure Skating Christmas performance I could hear my entire family, plus aunts, plus cousins, plus grandparents, plus my three hilarious girls (Liv, Anna, and Cate), plus Hailey, the entire song! These guys are way too good to me.

The best party of Christmas was talking to good old Elder Michael B. It was fun to hear him talk in his really heavy accent and to hear how much he has changed. I LOVE YOU MICHAEL!

The first week of Christmas break was amazing! Lets hope the second week will be just as great!

How we pass the time!

So lately I've been committed to taking pictures with my friends! In the beginning it was just to have pictures but somehow it always turns out to be an adventure. When Kami and I decided to take pictures the first time the camera died in about 6 seconds....But the second time we had a fully charged camera and we were ready to go! We ended up going to this really nice restaurant because they have the coolest lights ever! The parking dudes were really chill about us taking pictures after making me look like an idiot but of well! We got to take pictures and were just cracking up because we kept slipping on the ice. I thought all those hours at the ice rink would have kicked in but nope!
Here are the pictures from our adventure!
Most of the reason that I love this one is because 1- Me and the photographer (one of the employees) had a really confusing conversation when I tried to ask him to take the picture and 2- because we both almost biffed it about 3 seconds before and after the picture was taken.
We kinda got on a picture taking high so we decided to pull a hobo move and watch the cars pass by in the freezing cold while cars honked at us.....

It was Hailey's last day of working at cold stone..Oh how I will miss getting unlimited amounts of samples from this girl! To celebrate her last day of work Kami and I ditched being hobos and visited cute little Hailey!
These girls are my best friends! I have no clue what I would do without them.

WA (aka the winter dance)

I love High School Dances. This time I only had to ask one boy which made the whole experience so much better! My date was this kid named Travis. According to my mom he is going to be the one taking me to the temple in five years so watch out!
For the day activity we decorated cookies which is a lot more fun than it sounds.
Our pro cookies! (I promise the ones at my bakery will be a little bit cuter)

Travis getting ready to eat his face....

Then we went to dinner, then of course we jammed out at the dance, after the dance we attempted to get Kong cones  (huge ice cream cones from Macy's) but they were closed so we went to Kami's house and played curses, we went bowling, then to finish off the night we played curses again. I have to admit the activities weren't exactly the best/most creative ideas ever but it was still a really fun night!

Our group was huge! But I think I'm kinda liking the whole big group idea.
Suang and Brendon aren't they just the cutest little couple :)

Nair actually turned out to be a good idea.....

Okay so last weekend Kami and I were left at my house with nothing to do...so naturally we decided that Kami needed to experience her first facial! At first is was a ton of giggles, fun, and pictures until it was time to take them off......now of course something had to go wrong right? Well as I finished washing the green stuff off my face I look over and Kami has completely clogged the sink.

Of course my first reaction was to look for the draino as fast as I could so that Mama Sue wouldn't come home and be mad. Well I have no clue what draino even looks like or if it's just something I heard on TV. So instead I decided to test the one and only thing I learned in Science (Mr. Sidesinger's class). For some reason the only thing I can remember from that class in Mr. Sidesinger has a lot of stories about him and his buddies getting drunk in college and that Nair can unclog drains. I found the Nair and went to work.
Nobody warned me that Nair is the most horrible smell on the planet! Why is it that my ideas to solve problems usually adds another problem?

Hailey came over and walked into our nasty smelling house and just about died of laughter! Kami and I were both holding our breath while trying to get rid of the smell and the crap in the drain at the same time! Windows were open the drain now works and I look like a genius that fixed the drain before the parents arrived home! :) It's okay if they read this now because they can't get mad at something I fixed right?

Next we decided we had to get out of the house before we destroy it! So naturally we decide to make a nice/creepy candy poster for some hot senior boy! Yes all three of us are in love! We tried knocking on his door three times and of course Kami slipped in the snow and peed her pants the first time, Hailey almost peed her pants of laughter the second time, and Kami went alone the third time because we were too scared to. I conveniently was the driver so I didn't have to slip or be seen!

This was a pretty great weekend! Next weekend is extra long so I'm a little worried at what the three of us will accomplish!
Kami is probably going to kill me when she sees this one!

We got really good at holding our breath

Here is our lovely candy poster! Hailey's hand is conveniently covering up his name!

Lots to Talk About!

I have to talk about my Saturday two weeks ago. This whole day was spent cooking up a storm! This day also completely ruined pumpkin for me....for a good 3 days then my mom made pumpkin pie and I was back to normal! Cooking is just what me and my friends love to do! We are constantly reminding each other that we will be doing to exact same thing in 3ish years in college...I'm not sure how much food a college budget can pay for but we'll just take out a loan or something :). The cooking will never end! We made- pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, lemon roll, pumpkin crunch, some weird pumpkin cake thing, apple crisp, apple pie, some kind of drink that involved orange and lemon, and some chili. It was a really good/random meal but I was extremely sick or eating pumpkin!

Next I have to show off my friend Steph. She keeps looking at my blog and getting upset because she isn't on it so here ya go Steph! Stephanie is freakin good at being a dinosaur! I got to go to three camps with her this summer! I couldn't have picked a better buddy to go to camp hobe with! She is so good at killing giant bees, listening to horrifying mice with me at 2 in the morning, putting up with my good and bad moods, and of course playing with 200 kids for a week straight. I love this girl! Steph is really good at tennis and has ATTEMPTED to teach me a couple times.......(not my best sport). She just laughed at me the whole time but it was fun! I love my baking days with just me and Steph! This girl is practically perfect in every way!

Then I have to talk about my girls! This past weekend I got to stay at the Gloeckner's house and play with them all day and all night! We mostly jammed out to music and took Anna (the oldest out of the three) to basketball. But we were able to fit a couple more things in between. One of my favorite parts of the weekend was our movie nights. The girls would tell me to invite my friends over (Kami and Hailey) and we would all cuddle and watch a movie. Most of the time Anna and I feel asleep first..not counting Cate (3 years old) who would ask me if she could go to bed half way through the movie.(only the perfect little Cate would ever ask if she could go to bed). We also got to play restaurant which the girls were all over! Olivia made the table look pro and helped Kami make cookies and bread sticks. Anna helped me make soup. Then Cate just danced around keeping everyone happy. I love these girls to death! Sometimes I have to kick them out of the car and make them run to the next stop sign or corner but I love them anyway! They aren't just the girls that I nanny, they are three friends who love to hear all my big high school stories and that I love to laugh with! What nanny could ask for better girls?

In order to keep these girls happy we needed two separate couches and two separate popcorn bowls...did mention these girls never stop eating popcorn!

Hailey got a little hyper during Mary Poppins. (Kami and Olivia are best friends)

I'm guessing we both fell asleep about 2 seconds after this was taken!

It is impossible to keep this girls hair in a pony tail. Next time we are trying something new!

I told them to count how many girls were on he team just to entertain them...

Cate loved helping Kami make cookies...but I secretly think she just wanted to steal some dough!

MORP!!!!!

Last Saturday I went to my first high school dance! Morp taught me 7 things 1- never give up 2- there is no such thing as a cheap dance 3- It's impossible to make everyone happy until the day of the dance 4-The harder you dance the faster time flies (and the less you can move the next day) 5- I have the funnest group of friends ever! 6- Naps are completely necessary the day after the dance 7- Driving a 15 passenger van full of teenagers and loud music is by far the funnest way to go from one place to another!

I'm going to explain the never give up one because that is by far the most entertaining. So nobody warned me how hard it is to find a date to a dance! Everyone started asking about 8 weeks before the dance. In my opinion you have to wait until it's at least the month of the dance! But since I didn't want everyone to be taken I started asking exactly 7 weeks before the dance....I had no idea I would be asking 4 boys...My first idea was so ask a kid named Zach. But right when I leave to go to Zach's house I find out he has a girl friend....So I redid the poster and switched Zach's name to Matt. I asked Matt that night then the next day I get a text from him saying he is going with someone else. (2 boys down 2 more to go). That Monday we didn't have school so I decided to ask Inoke (he doesn't go to Brighton). I went to Inoke's school and had the office lady give him the cute note thing and cookies. 2 weeks later I get a message on facebook saying he is going to his school's morp so he can't go with me...(3 boys down 1 more to go). So after getting rejected over a text and over facebook I was in need of a pep talk from Kami and Hailey! They convinced me to try one more time! By this time I'm asking boys that I have never talked to before. I decided to ask Nathan. This time it was just out of boredom on a Sunday afternoon. I asked Nathan and then 1 week later I found a pumpkin on my porch that had y.e.s inside! I finally found a date to morp! I started asking 7 weeks early and I got a date 1 week before morp! NEVER GIVE UP! But for the next dance I really hope I get a date the first try!

Morp ended up being so much fun and well worth the work! I was worried about it being awkward because of the fact that I had known Nate since 1st grade but I had never talked to him before, but in the end it was perfect! We kidnapped them, then we carved pumpkins, then we went to the dance, after the dance we went paint balling! I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF MORP!

I loved my group so much!

My trip to California!

I am an extremely spoiled babysitter! This past week my little sister and I got to go to Disneyland and Sea world FOR A BABYSITTING JOB! It was so much fun! We pretty much got to hang out at Disneyland just us too from 11:00 am until about 5;30 pm! Not only did this mean we got to go on all the "big kid rides" but we also got a ton of sister bonding time! I love my sister so much and I'm so glad I got some alone time with her for a whole week and a half!
The babysitting side of the trip was really fun but sometimes frustrating! I officially know how tired a mom can get! At the very beginning of the trip Mary and I were teasing the Hansens about going to bed at 8:00 but two days later we were the first ones in bed! The two kids are 18 months and 3 years old so they definitely kept us on our toes all day long! Parenting isn't for whimps! But I loved spending time with a little boy that would constantly say things that would make me laugh and a baby girl that is a total mama's girl but is an extremely good cuddler when mama isn't around! Words cannot describe how much I love these kids!
I have suddenly started quoting Bentley (the three year old) here are the major quotes:
1. Hey you happy? - this was said anytime he knew I was getting a little bit frustrated or tired.
2. So tell me about your day! - He said this anytime there was a moment of silence
3. I was a wittle scawed...just a wittle bit! - some of the rides at Disneyland were a little too intense for this little man
4. Then of course every car ride was filled with "If You're Happy and You Know It."
5. He let me tell you a secret! (then he would whisper something about throwing you into dog poop or something about me being his best friend)
On top of gaining some awesome quotes I have learned two other things this past week. The first on is- If you have a three year old be ready to stop for a potty break at every moment! I helped Bentley pee in a bottle 4 times in one trip...it's a good thing he's a boy or that could have been a lot harder. Second is hot sauce is the best threat in the world! When Bentley wasn't listening I would simply ask him if he wants hot sauce and he would instantly turn into an angel! AMAZING!

Me and Mary are really really excited about a lot of these pictures! Here are a couple of the best ones from are awesome trip!

This is mine and Mary's favorite disney character! Look at him he is just so lovable!

Me and Bentley were jesse and woody! He was so excited to trick or treat in disneyland! We got 23 pounds in 2 hours!

Another favorite!

Ferris wheel......not exactly very intense...

You gotta try this one!

Just a good old spiritual reminder! Then catching the secret chalk artists!

I LOVE this video so much! I hope you do too!

Now its time for some real business! I have to tell you guys about more of my best friends! So I was a trying to recover from a 5 mile run by eating some random Mexican take out thing in my fridge, when all of a sudden I see two people in my front yard. At first I thought it was Mary but when I took a closer look it was two of my really good friends, Alyssa Clark and Sarah Mcmaster! If you don't know who they are let me explain them- Alyssa is pretty much the smartest person on the planet, not to mention she is flippin gorgeous, she makes everything sound simple and can solve any problem in the universe. Lyssa and I love to bake together and are pretty good at giving each other random looks across any room when necessary. Sarah is hilarious! She not only is the funniest interpretive dancer ever she can also do about 1,000 accents while doing a Russian dance move that she learned on the wii.(we just call it a Russian dance move I have no idea what it really is.) Sarah is really smart and is somehow always happy! I'm totally obsessed with both of these girls! Now back to my story...I look outside to find Sarah and Alyssa playing with chalk in my front yard...You would think this would surprise me more then it did but my group always does things like this for each other! It totally made my day! Then I finally got to take a shower but of course as soon as I get out I find my friend Kami at my house....My friends are really good at catching me off guard!

I promised I would work on actually getting pictures for my posts so here are some pictures of Lyssa and Sarah's art work!

They are 100% supportive of my bakery dream!

You can't really see it but this is Alyssa and Sarah baking up a storm in my bakery's kitchen.

This one is self-explanatory.

We always joke around that is Kami works in my bakery she shouldn't be in the kitchen part....or the money/math part.....so they drew her happily greeting people at the front desk!

Me ice skating while decorating a cake!

Oh and this amazing photography was by my best best best friend Mary!

The Future.....and explaining some things.

I have figured out my future! The more people ask me about where I want to go for school the more the Oregon Coast pops into my head....which is weird since I've never actually been there. As soon as a figure out where I'm going to go the rest is already set! I really really want to go to culinary school! My dream is to one day own my own bakery (my little sister might be my partner is the business), marry some hot returned missionary, become the ultimate soccer mom, and somehow find time to travel the world. This is the picture in my head and I'm so excited to see how much of it actually works!
My dream of being in the bakery part of culinary school was confirmed! I know that I want to do something in the food service industry and I was feeling a little bit undecided about which part until today! Today in prostart we had to fabricate a chicken....Have you ever fabricated a chicken? I highly recommend letting Costco do that for you! Fabricating a chicken is pretty much the process of cutting the chicken into to 11 different parts- 2 legs, 2 wings, 2 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 tender loins, and the carcass........this process involves popping out joints and so many other things that I could hardly handle......but it was mostly the popping that got me! So it is decided the bakery is the place for me since it doesn't involve meat at all! :)
Today I also realized one other part of my future! Grocery shopping in college is going to be so easy! All I need to survive is cereal, bread, vegetables, milk, and water! Since all I really eat is cereal, veggie sandwiches and lettuce for a snack (I know lettuce isn't supposed to be a snack but I love it!) If you don't believe me ask any of my friends they remind me everyday how weird my eating habits are. But I don't care because grocery shopping for them will be so much harder!
I just realized how badly I need more pictures for my posts so I'll work on that! But I'm pretty sure you will feel like your in high school biology again if you saw that chicken so I spared all of your eyes!

1st Experience with Tea.....not so good

Okay so for a history project we have to write five entries in a journal as if we were slaves........yeah it is a very depressing journal. This project would be really easy if all we had to do was make up some stories about working in the fields under a blazing sun with hardly anything to eat or drink. But of course our teacher thought that would be too boring, so we are supposed to "spice it up" by writing the journal in a creative way like finding some old chunk of leather and somehow making it look like its from 1863 and written by someone who somehow learned to read and write. Whenever I am assigned an assignment like this the first person I turn to for creativity is my mom. This woman can come up with anything and make it brilliant! This time she found a way to make paper look freakishly old by soaking it in black tea. Have you ever smelled black tea? It's disgusting....I'm so glad the church is against letting me try that stuff! It has made our whole kitchen smell like a not so clean cow ranch. I highly recommend keeping it at least 100 yards away from any of your senses...1st- smell- nasty 2nd- taste..you don't need to try it to know what it tastes like (I didn't taste it) 3rd- touch- It's hot so it will burn you...enough said 4th- hear- you know how in the movies the tea screams at you...in real life I bet that's nails on a chalk board 5th- look- ummmmm its a cup of black liquid with some pouch of chunky herbs of course it doesn't look good!

So my first tea experience is hopefully my last but at least I figured out how to make paper look old....I'll find someway to make that benefit my life or the life of my fellow man. But for now I just want an A on this assignment. My advice to the world...or 3 of my friends is stay away from tea it probably gives you horrible breath! Go for the hot chocolate and if your too lazy to make that 7-11 has the best hot chocolate in the world! Or Nathan Schanz has taught me a thing or too about making it so I'll make if for you as long as you stay away from that nasty liquid of death that is know as tea! Thanks for reading me rambling about tea!

TAYLOR SWIFT + BABY GRAHAM!

Okay even though I'm sure nobody is reading this blog I'm going to continue writing anyway! So yesterday was pretty much the best day of my life! My entire family (Sarah, Michael, and Ryan were replaced by Heathers friend Jill and some family friends that we pretty much consider family- Amy and Anna.) So pretty much if you haven't heard Taylor Swift sing in a room full of 14,00 screaming people and extremely fun dancers then I feel extremely sorry for you because I have never had so much fun in such a short amount of time ever! Mary and I were screaming/singing along the entire concert and somehow we both managed to still have voices the next day. I truly think Barton's have a superpower that gives your vocal cords extreme strength...we might not be good at singing but we have the power to never stop singing!
Now with these powerful set of lungs I HAVE to scream one last thing! GRAHAM IS DONE WITH CHEMO! This little man is less than a year old and has been through 5 rounds of chemo since April. I've witnessed him and his family grow stronger and seen how strong each one of them are. Graham is 1/16 of my age but I look up to him so so much! He really is the strongest person I know! Then of course his 3 year old brother is also more than amazing this whole experience has taught him to be so out-going and I just love to hang out with cute little sawyer! Next there is Graham's dad wow if there is one thing I've learned from him it's to never eat before entering the Schanz house because Nathan will be sure to force you to eat at least one huge piece of cake! Graham's mom is the second strongest person on the planet. Throughout this whole thing I've watched Sadie be so grateful and so positive to everyone she talks to. I can tell this experience has made her testimony grow like crazy! Sadie is the exact replica of what I want to be when I'm a mom!

All it takes is a little bit of Top It!

Okay so lately I've been having a little bit of lame high school drama. The drama was really getting to me and putting me down so two of my best friends and I decided we needed a "pick me up" or in other words, Top It frozen yogurt (The best frozen yogurt EVER). After having a little bit of frozen yogurt, taking about a thousand pictures, and belting out Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber in the car ride, we were almost back to normal. I'm really really lucky to have these girls. They always have my back and I really try to constantly have theirs. If you don't know these girls here are some essential facts about them.

First there is Hailey- This girl is hilarious and can put anyone in a good mood. She will eat anything and can talk in about a thousand accents. If you haven't seen this girl dance you are really missing out because she is just about the best dancer on the planet! Hailey is freakishly smart and amazing at keeping secrets along with giving really good advice. Plus a huge bonus is Hailey works at coldstone which means we get A LOT of free samples. This picture is a nerdy look so i promise our faces don't normally look like this.

Next there is Kami- Wow this girl is a whole different ball game! First of all its impossible to find food that she will eat, she is not exactly the most skilled dancer.......she doesn't have a job yet, and she doesn't know how to do a nerdy face. BUT I love her with all my heart! She can be a little bit of a blond but she really tries so hard to make everyone in the room happy! She is funny without trying to be, and she is amazing at reading minds. Kami is one of the only people who I can show any side of myself to- good, bad, emotional, hyper, you name Kami has witnessed it! Where would I be without this girl!
hahaha this picture is worth a thousand words

I told you she was hilarious!

This is when we were working on our french accents. Yeah we are getting pretty good, can you tell?

They thought the side spoons were so creative...haha

Okay Hailey cheated on this picture. We decided to see whose mouth is bigger but Hailey showed off her teeth so hers looks bigger but don't be fooled!
I've decided this picture is a little bit awkward...
I freakin love these girls!
